Tunnel vision, never look around to see what the next man is doing or where your competitors are. Play your position and worry about where you, your brand or company is at. If you're looking at the next person and wondering how he/she got to where they are, I'll answer your questions for you.... WORK!!!
Sometimes the next person is looked at as less talented or not as intelligent, these are the people willing to put that work in. Willing to do what the more talented or "smarter" person isn't willing to do. So who really is the smarter person... lol, seriously though.
